It is understood that starting from September 1, the Halong Bay Management Committee will set up an inter-departmental inspection team to inspect the implementation of the above regulations for each business unit in Halong Bay. At present, the Halong Bay Management Committee carries out propaganda work to encourage tourists to reduce the use of plastic bottles and plastic bags when visiting Halong Bay. Each business unit in Halong Bay actively purchases paper cups, paper straws and paper bags to serve tourists. Upon arrival at the terminal, the dock staff and the cruise shipowner will inform the visitors not to use disposable plastic items. This is a positive move to reduce the negative impact of plastic waste on the Halong Bay landscape, helping the Halong Bay tourism environment to be more beautiful and clean.
At present, the Halong Bay Management Committee has cooperated with two enterprises and a number of fishing vessels to collect garbage on Halong Bay. It has already collected tens of thousands of tons of plastic waste, including more plastic bottles and plastic bags.
